Decorating with Red

Do you love a bit of red for home decor?

I know most people shy away from decorating with red, but red is kinda like black, just a little goes a long way. Most of the trends I see in the decorating world are going back to neutrals, whites, beiges, grays, etc. Colors that compliment the Farmhouse Style of home decor. How about a pop of color with your neutrals?

I am really surprised with the pantone color of the year 2017, Greenery! Really ?? Now don’t get me wrong this is still one of my favorite colors for summer sweaters but not for home decor. I live in northern New England where we don’t see many rooms decorated with apple green these days.

This picture is from HGTV. Here’s their description of the 2017 hue called greenery. Think spring and gardening.

“Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

So What Do You Think About Decorating with Red?

Red is a wonderful warm color that can make everything in a room pop. A room without it, declared Vincent Fourcade, a famous mid century French-American decorator to the rich and famous, is like “a woman without lipstick.” Now I don’t know if anyone would agree with the lipstick theory anymore but the reality of just a little red can make a huge impact.

That’s a beautiful colour – I’m a huge fan of the Miss Mustard Seed red and want to tackle an old blanket box in that colour as my next DIY project! I recently upcycled an old sideboard in “Typewriter”
