Halloween Decor – Pottery Barn Dupe x 2
I love Pottery Barn style so when I am making- “Halloween Decor-Pottery Barn Dupes” I mean it in the kindest most flattering of ways to the Pottery Barn designers.
Have you seen the pages of their new fall catalog or even perused the pages of their online shop. I will tell you they went all out for Halloween.
I love pumpkins, you may already know this by the number of pumpkin posts I have written, so these Pottery Barn pumpkins caught my eye right away!

I knew I could make one for much less than that price tag so off to the fabric store I went! I bought a few different pieces of sherpa fabric and began the task. I’ve made Hundreds of pumpkins! So I thought it would be easy but……
I hadn’t worked with sherpa in a long time and it stretches! The pumpkins from Pottery Barn are pillows and quite large so it was a lot of fabric, a lot of stuffing and difficult to do the sculpturing of the lobes. [A lot of thread on a long needle] I did manage to get it all done and it came out great but it was not a “Quick Dupe”.
If you want a pumpkin that is 8″ in diameter finished, your fabric is cut 25″ wide. I cut the big white one 28″ wide by 15″ tall and then sewed up the shorter side, 15″side. I gathered the bottom and knotted it and then stuffed it, see photo below, then I gathered the top. After stuffing, I tied it off and sculpted the lobes with a very long needle and heavy thread.
The stem is a 4″ x 6″ piece of burlap that I rolled and glued with hot glue and then wrapped twine around it.

The Second Pottery Barn Pumpkin Dupe

The second pillow or Jack O Lantern was more difficult then the first sherpa pillow because of the “Jack O Lantern” details. For those I used satin fabric which I had painted with a fabric medium. Once the fabric was dry, I then cut the features out and glued them in place.
FYI- I cut away the sherpa pile from behind the features before I glued them down so the eyes, nose and mouth would lay flat. [Not an easy task]
Same exact stem as above and now that I am done with these two, will I make more? Reality speaking, I have a couple of yards of sherpa left in three different colors!
[side note] – I purchased the fabric during the Labor Day 60% off at JoAnn fabric’s sale so I did save money but for sure not time.
I love this pillow but it took quite a bit of time to make it! I did make it the same size and as close to the one below so I did get a good idea what my pillow would go for!!!!!!!

The pillow is huge when it comes to stuffing and adding the details. I noticed the Pottery Barn Jack has sewn on features whereas mine are glued on. My stem is a little different and I sculpted the lobes before I glued the features on. Other than that I would say I did pretty good! Here I am filling it with fiber fill!

I will be sending this to my grands in Texas and I am sure they will have it for years to come. Time is such a factor in my life now and in the future I know I have to be more aware of how much time I spend on these “little projects”
I am not including exact directions or a full tutorial but if you want to make one I have a Youtube video on how to make a pumpkin with lobes from flannel. All you have to do is change the proportions [see above] and the fabric [use sherpa] and you could make one of these Pottery Barn pumpkin Pillow Dupes!
Happy Halloween!
