Painting Away Winter Blues

It’s winter and it’s cold and it’s dreary.

Must be time to be painting away winter blues.

We have collected so many little tables and extra chairs for sale and for our classes. Time to use them up. Winter is in full swing which means we have time to do all the painting that our little hearts desire.  All of our customers are home with cabin fever! Now I can use all the new Fusion Mineral Paint colors that came out in the fall but we were much too busy with Christmas to do any extra painting.

Winter Painting with Safe Paints

I must be thinking of the tropics because the first thing I wanted to do was paint this sign made out of an old ironing board which I thought looked like a surf board. Sign painted in Fusion Mineral Paint Heirloom with dark wax and a combo of Funky Junk Old Sign Stencils.

Painting away the winter bluesMost of the last couple of days I have been painting with our Fusion Mineral Paint in shades of blue. This little chair came from the auction and she was a dirty mess with no seat. Once I painted her in Fusion Mineral Paint color Inglenook, I knew she needed a vintage floral fabric for a seat.  Just that addition made it feel like the tropics at 12 degrees. Not really but a success for painting away winter blues indeed.

Painting Away the Winter BluesCouldn’t wait to try out Midnight Blue and this little side table night stand was the perfect candidate. The camera shows a ripple of the veneer on the door but the door isn’t buckled or bubbled but perfectly flat. Don’t you love the original hardware?

This is what I did with an old wooden ironing board, Fusion Mineral Paint and Funky Junk Old Sign Stencils. Perfect for a porch or beach house.

My winter blues couldn’t end without a little bit of Homestead Blue. This table is tiny and I can see it perfectly as a side table next to a child’s bed.
